KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A shareholder has failed to properly plead falsity and scienter in making his federal securities law claims against a subprime mortgage lender and its executive officers, and amending his complaint would be futile, a federal judge ruled June 4 in dismissing the shareholder’s amended complaint with prejudice (In re 2007 Novastar Financial, Inc. Rhode Island, Defendants Take Argument To High Court; Ruling Expected By July 4
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Rhode Island Supreme Court on May 14 heard oral arguments for nearly four hours by the attorneys representing the state and those representing the former makers of lead paint that appealed a jury verdict holding them liable for a public nuisance because the companies made and sold lead paint and pigment prior to a federal ban on the product in the late 1970s (state of Rhode Island, by and through Attorney General Patrick J.
