The nation’s labor market worsened in December to the weakest level since the shock that followed Hurricane Katrina, as the problems in housing and mortgages, coupled with a disappointing pre-holiday shopping season, took a bite out of job opportunities.
Trial Lawyers Argue Vioxx Settlement Terms Pose Ethical Quandary
NEW ORLEANS - A group including several prominent Texas trial attorneys filed an emergency motion on Dec. 13 challenging provisions in the recently announced $4.85 billion national Vioxx settlement that they say create representational conflicts and impermissibly restrict their duty to render candid advice to clients (In Re: VIOXX Products Liability Litigation, MDL 1657, E.D.
